Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf shakes hands with Maj. The humanitarian assistance delivery was a combined effort of African Partnership Station, an initiative to improve maritime safety and security throughout West and Central Africa, and the Western Africa Training Cruise 08 coordinated by Marine Forces Europe, with Marines from 4th Landing Support Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, responsible for the delivery of $58,000 of humanitarian assistance supplies and equipment to hospitals, clinics and schools here. - Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf shakes hands with Maj. Republic of Georgia capital city Tbilisi City Mayor Gigi Ugulava greets Maj. Melvin Chattman, 38, the Georgia Sustainment and Stability Operations Program U.S. task force commander and native of Memphis, Tenn., at the Waldorf Free School, Nov. 5. Task force members donated an oak tree, bushes, flowers, axes and their personal time to improving the school grounds for the children in addition to splitting firewood to heat the school. Flanking the mayor are (left) Levan Khelaia, the school environmental coordinator, and (right) Jimi Mazanashvili, Parent Teacher Association coordinator. The more than 50-member U.S. task force, many of them veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, is training Georgian soldiers in preparation for their scheduled deployment to Iraq as Coalition members.
