US ambassador visits Marines in Bulgaria

James B. Warlick Jr., the U.S. ambassador to Bulgaria, visited Black Sea Rotational Force Marines and Sailors conducting a peacekeeping operations course with Bulgarian soldiers at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, July 8.

During his visit, the ambassador watched as U.S. and Bulgarian troops participated in a situational training exercise, demonstrating many of the skills they learned over the two week course.

The peacekeeping operations course with Bulgarian soldiers was the final of four courses Black Sea Rotational Force conducted during the deployment. The first Security Cooperation Marine Air-Ground Task Force in the Black Sea Region, , Black Sea Rotational Force Marines and Sailors completed more than 40 percent of Marine Corps Forces Europe theater security cooperation requirements, while promoting regional stability, bolstering partner nations’ military capabilities and building enduring partnerships in the region.

Many of the force’s Marines have traveled to Ukraine for Exercise Sea Breeze, while others will soon be returning to friends and families at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif.
