The Pentagon, Washington DC -- The Secretary of the Air Force, Dr. James Roche and Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Gen. John Jumper, will co-host the unveiling of two paintings capturing what Air Force pilots saw Sept. 11, from the skies above the Pentagon and The World Trade Center.
Rick Herter, aviation artist and participant of the Air Force Art Program, will officially donate the paintings to the Air Force. One painting depicts an F-15 from the 102nd Fighter Wing, Massachusetts ANG, flying over the World Trade Center towers; the second depicts an F-16 from the 119th Fighter Wing, North Dakota ANG, making the first low pass over the fire ravaged Pentagon.
The unveiling ceremony is Sept. 4, at 8:30 a.m. in the Pentagon, between corridors eight and nine on the fourth floor.
Media interested in covering the ceremony should coordinate access to the Pentagon with Major Josie Fernandez, staff officer at the Secretary of the Air Force Press Desk, the Pentagon, 703-695-0640.
