Oct. 13, 2016 -- STUTTGART, Germany (October 13, 2016) – Allies from 10 NATO countries will meet in Latvia during a defensive exercise along NATO’s Eastern Flank starting, Monday.
During the combat scenario, U.S. Marines in Europe along with Allies from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, U.K., Germany, Netherlands, Albania, Denmark and Romania will form multinational brigades demonstrating their collective ability to deny potential adversaries access to territory in the Baltic States. The focus during the training is on anti-air and anti-armor systems.
“We train together with our allies and partners in order to be ready to stand up to any threats and to defend Latvia against any aggressor we might face in the future, “ says Lt.Gen. Raimonds Graube, Latvia’s Chief of Defense.
Exercise Silver Arrow 2016 is a multinational annual exercise led by U.S. Army Europe designed to expedite NATO’s response time during conflict.
