Marines, Sailors, Civilians, Contractors, and Family Members,
As you have likely heard, the garrison is implementing further firebreaks or separations within the Stuttgart military community in the form of Red, White, and Blue groups. Here is the garrison’s explanation of these groups for your reference.
These groups apply to commissaries, community mail rooms, and the exchange. The implementation of these groups is left to each command. To allow maximum flexibility within this command, I have pushed the management of these groups to the section level. Each assistant chief of staff will manage their personnel within the three groups, taking into account family needs to ensure the needs of everyone is met to the maximum extent possible.
BL – each Marine and their family will be in one of three groups, and is expected to utilize the commissary exchange, and community mail rooms on your designated day(s). This will be managed by section. The rationale behind the Red, White, and Blue Groups is to preserve the workforce to ensure the continuation of critical services.
I also want to reiterate Colonel Condrey’s comments from his last video to the community regarding patience, kindness, and the understanding that we, as a community are all going through the same extraordinary circumstances. I ask that you talk to each other to help each other out as much as you can. If it is not your time to shop, but you are in need of something, let someone from another group know.
It is my intent to ensure the well-being of you and your families, while also complying with the spirit and intent of the garrison guidelines. As always, the health of the force and your families is my number one priority. Please note that the Red/White/Blue groups does not include the Express stores. Anyone can visit the Express store(s) at any time. The garrison is stocking more bread, milk, etc. in these stores in order to help fill the needs of the community.
If you or your family has any question I remind you that we have a COVID-19 planning team that you can reach out to for questions at: email@example.com.
These are extraordinary times. As Marines I’m certain that we will emerge from this stronger than before. It’s who we are, and is ingrained in our Marine DNA. Take care of the Marine and Sailor on your left and right, as well as up and down the chain of command. It is truly an honor to be a member of this team.
Thank you and Semper Fidelis,
MajGen Patrick J. Hermesmann, USMC
Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe/Africa
