Monrovia, Liberia - U.S. Marines from Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa (MARFOREUR/AF), U.S. Army Soldiers from the U.S. Embassy in Liberia, Regina Jun, Program Office Deputy Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and Sunshine Ison, Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), discuss the upcoming Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) engagement in Monrovia, Liberia, July 29, 2021. U.S. Marines from MARFOREUR/AF travelled to West Africa to conduct an event in support of the WPS program as part of a national effort to promote the meaningful contributions of women in defense and security sectors around the world. WPS focuses on improving effectiveness of foreign policy and efforts by proactively integrating the needs and perspectives of women, while also empowering them to contribute their talents and energies to international peace, security, and prosperity.
